Spring Break: Destination Trouble (Calamity in Cancun)

Brandon P. • March 20, 2017

Spring Break, as defined by Wikipedia:

“Spring break is a U.S. phenomenon and an academic tradition which started during the 1930s in the United States and is observed in some other western countries.”

Well, it’s that time of year again. No, I’m not talking about Spring Cleaning, Spring Training or even that ubiquitous Spring Basketball tournament (i.e. March Madness).

Prepare yourself…I’m speaking, of course, about Spring Break, or, at the very least, the time to begin packing for your trip. Yes, the reason 95% (or is it 5%?) of college students actually enroll in school in the first place.

Time to get a tan, get your passport and get over your agoraphobia (that last one may be a bit of a challenge).  Beaches, booze and bail money are in your near future (well, hopefully not the latter).

Whatever you bring with you, however, you may want to forget the phone.

Spring Break can be a lot of fun, but it can also come with a lot of peril. Below are five all-too-common “faux-pas” to be wary of during your upcoming Spring Break Bash…

Getting Arrested

The authorities are rarely impressed by drunken acrobatics…

Getting Caught on Video (Drunk/Disorderly/Nudity)

Remember, EVERYONE has a camera these days…

Breaking Hearts

Hell hath no fury like a Spring-Breaker scorned…

Drunk Driving (DUI)

NEVER a good idea…

Negative Social Media Posts

Um…What WERE you thinking?!?

Did You Party A Little TOO Hard?

Spring Break can be fun. However, Spring Break antics now tend to end up online. When exposed on the Web, a seemingly harmless and youthful indiscretion could potentially leave an indelible impression of you on admissions professionals, potential employers and even friends and family for a lifetime. This "black mark" on your online image could haunt you for months, perhaps even years...
